Save the Children Sweden Visit

On Wednesday 19 February Save the Children Sweden Chairperson Lise Bergh the Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan, together with Lena Ingelstam, Programmes Director and Arshad Malik Sudan office Country Director. The meeting focused in ways of collaboration between Save the Children in Sudan with the transitional government, to improve the situation of children, with particular focus on law reforms, child-friendly budgeting, capacity building of government, as well as public spend on children.
The Prime Minister affirmed that health and education are among the priorities of the transitional government. Appreciating the programs and projects implemented by Save the Children Organization in the field of basic services for children in Sudan.
Save the Children Sweden Chairperson Lisa Berg affirmed on the organization's support for the transitional government's efforts in the field of humanitarian work in Sudan. She added that amongst the organization's main focus is to combat the harmful traditional practices such as FGM and child marriage. Ms Lisa Berg also assured the organization's readiness to serve and support Children programs, expressing her happiness with the change happening in Sudan after the glorious December revolution.

Also On Wednesday 19 February, Save the Children Sweden Chairperson Lisa Berg met with Wala'a Essam al-Boushi, the Sudanese Minister of Youth and Sport Along with Lena Ingelstam, Programmes Director and Arshad Malik Sudan office Country Director.

The meeting discussed the opportunities and ways of cooperation between the Save the Children Organization and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to improve the situation of children in Sudan, with a focus on joint coordination and benefiting from resources. The Minister indicated that the doors of the ministry are open to all parties, that wish to provide services to children, especially that the ministry has started implementing programs for youth from the age of 10 to 35.

on the following day 20 February, Save the Children Sweden Chairperson Lisa Berg met with Lina El-sheikh, the Sudanese Minister of labour and social development, Along with Lena Ingelstam, Programmes Director and Arshad Malik Sudan office Country Director.

The meeting discussed the opportunities and ways of cooperation between the Save the Children Organization and the Ministry. Lina said that she is becoming a child rights advocate.
