Helping children recover from malnutrition in Sudan: Adan’s story

Save the Children with support from European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) is implementing a nutrition programme targeting malnourished children in Kalamendo and Jabrat Elsheikh localities in Sudan. The nutrition programme involves providing high quality nutrition supplements to help children suffering from Moderately Acute Malnutrion (MAM) and Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) recover from the illness.

Fighting Malnutrition in North Kordofan, Sudan


Mariyah is a two-year-old girl living with her parents in Jabrat El Sheikh in North Kordofan State in Sudan. She was born premature and frequently fell ill since she was born. Her family has limited income and her father works as a laborer to make ends meet. Her parents often struggle to meet their basic needs such as food and this prompted her father to move to another area in search of better employment opportunities.

Save the Children signs on Sudan Health Compact

Save the Children has been invited by the Sudan Federal Ministry of Health and WHO to be one of the technical working group for the International Health Partnership (IHP+) and signatories on the Sudan Local Health Compact. This Sudan Compact mirrors the objectives of the international agreements signed by Sudan. It aims at promoting stronger and more effective partnerships that can enhance Sudan’s progress towards global health goals such as the Millennium Development Goals.
