22 December 2021 – Children are being forced to work long hours in Sudan as the country’s economic and humanitarian crisis continues to deteriorate, Save the Children said.

الخرطوم ، 8 ديسمبر. منظمة رعاية الطفولة تشعر بقلق عميق على الأطفال في منطقة دارفور بالسودان إثر مقتل ما يقرب من 50 شخصًا وتشريد ما لا يقل عن 2000 طفل واسرهم في أعمال العنف خلال نهاية الأسبوع الماضي، هي الأحدث في أعمال العنف المندلعة في المنطقة والتي أسفرت عن مقتل نحو 100 شخص خلال الثلاثة الأسابيع الماضية.

In the early hours of October 25th, the Transitional Military Council took measures against the civilian cabinet of the Transitional Government of Sudan.  Arresting several ministers and the Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, Sudan experienced and faced a major political change in government leading to social and political unrest.

A nationwide state of emergency was announced. Communications were disrupted. Freedom of mobility was restricted.

In the last days of June, Kamal*, 70, contracted COVID-19 and felt some of its most severe symptoms: sharp chest pain and difficulty breathing. Kamal’s age and underlying chronic conditions placed him in the at-risk patient group, who are often left with slim chances and hopes of fighting off the aggressive virus. Today, he is home, he is fully recovered, and he is telling us his story, after receiving treatment at the Khartoum Isolation Centre, funded by the Sudan Humanitarian Fund (SHF) and supported by Save the Children.
